Choose Your Own Adventure Blog Hop – You Stay with the Boat

Avast! This is not the beginning of the Choose Your Own Adventure Story. It might be the end! You can get the beginning by clicking on the “Adventure Starts Here” image.

For hours you row at the strange man’s behest as he supposedly guides the ship towards the brothers’ island. As far as the eye can see in any direction is water. Even inside the boat – wait inside the boat? You look down at your feet and notice that water has started coming in. There in one of the sides!

“Leak!” you holler. “Gimme a bucket!” The others scramble looking for something to bail the water with. The best anyone has is a small tea cup. You start flinging water over the side and into the drink, but it’s coming in faster than the tea cup flings out. The others abandon their rowing and start scooping water out with their hands as the leak grows larger and larger. Suddenly, the board underneath your feet breaks and you nearly lose your fin.

“Abandon ship!” shouts the galley assistant just as you hop from the lifeboat into the water. Suddenly a strong pair of arms yaks on the air tanks on your back. Another grabs at your fins. Frightened you kick out and swim away from the crew. You swim onwards in the direction that you had been rowing, hoping to find the galley assistant and his brother’s island.

Miles from anywhere you float aimlessly in the water. You don’t see a single soul and there is no way to tell if you are even swimming in a straight line. You decide to surrender to the sea and let the current float you away. Maybe the current will bring you in to shore. It looks like you’ll never find your love now. All because Captain Contemptuous couldn’t keep up the lifeboats.

The sun beats down on you and you would kill for a drink of water as the hot tropical sun beats down on you. You’re flickering in and out of consciousness. In one of the glimpses of consciousness, two large glowing green eyes appear over you and blink slowly. You would laugh, but you have no energy for that. The serpent catches you with his tail and drags you behind him. That’s nice, you think as you slide black into the darkness, maybe I’ll find my love after all.

The End
